Wind in their calves…

“Two travelers circling the globe, guided by the wind and the power of their calves.”

This simple sentence, greeting visitors on their new blog, sums up the essence of Manon and Valentin’s adventure.
Crossing continents powered purely by pedal strokes, and harnessing the winds to cross oceans!

This is far from the first zero-carbon world expedition supported by Kortel Design—in fact, it's woven into our company's DNA!
Years ago, Olivier PEYRE first reached out to us for his “En route avec aile” journey: a grand seven-year loop traveling overland by bicycle and crossing oceans via hitchhike sailing. That collaboration gave birth to the original Kruyer, a lightweight and comfortable harness designed to travel anywhere. Olivier tested it relentlessly in extreme conditions, providing invaluable real-world design feedback!

Meanwhile, solo world traveler Sandrine is currently navigating the heart of Australia. Departing France in late 2020, she has already covered half of her global journey from her recumbent bike. In her panniers sits a Kruyer III that has accompanied her from day one, enabling incredible flights along the way! Follow her journey on Instagram and on her blog.

Now, it's Valentin and Manon's turn to embark on a journey ten months in the making—one sure to deliver unforgettable moments.
After connecting in early January 2023, we met to discuss their route and identify the ideal gear. Their infectious enthusiasm and generosity won us over immediately, and our ultralight range had just what they needed. They selected the Kruyer III for its unmatched comfort-to-compactness ratio, paired with the K40 to carry their complete flight kit in a single lightweight, comfortable pack during hike & fly segments.
An adventure like this deserves to be lived to the fullest, but also shared! You can follow them on Instagram and via their blog “DuVentDansLesMollets”, where you can explore the origins of the project, their planning, gear testing, and soon track their progress across the globe. A sailboat has already been secured for the transatlantic crossing, and their departure date by bike from Sallanches is fast approaching…

Stay tuned for the next chapter of their adventures!
