Pico do Gaviao World Cup (Brazil)

The Pico do Gaviao Paragliding World Cup will be held in Brazil from September 7 to 14.
The hugely successful 2017 Pico do Gaviao World Cup confirmed Brazil as the home of seven-day competitions. As Richard Gallon says, "Pico do Gaviao is an extraordinary take-off, in all directions. So many options of heats. Each day we launch a completely different round with a wide variety of terrain (flat or relief). You have to fly with the feeling that there are no clouds to help you. The Brazilians really teach us how to fly!
Two years ago, Brazilian pilots won five trophies and nine of the top 15 places. But the Europeans dominated the recent Baixo Guandu Super Final. Who will rule the skies and fly with the best thermals in Brazil this time?
An equal number of Brazilian and French pilots are participating, proof of the growing number of world-class Brazilian pilots.
Kortel Design will once again have a strong team: Jonathan MARIN, former French champion, Baptiste LAMBERT and Stéphane DROUIN, World Cup stage winners, will fly the Kortel flag on their Kanibal Race 2 harnesses.
Seven World Cup winners and three female winners will participate, all of them eager to win again. At least half of the pilots present in the thermal above Pico do Gaviao will be in pursuit of one of the few precious places still available for the Super Final.
Pilots from thirty different countries will be competing, demonstrating Brazil's popularity for Paragliding World Cups, combining beautiful skies, a big friendly smile and generous thermals!
In addition to the PWCA app and the pwca.org website (which now includes photos of the pilots) with live commentary, tracking and scores, the local organizers have also made a great app. Look for: PWC Andradas.
