La KARMA–2, ha sido concebida a partir de las observaciones negativas hechas a la KARMA, a saber: peso y volumen muy importantes. La KARMA-2 responde a estas exigencias sin sacrificar la seguridad. La solución simple para reducir el volumen en la mochila es utilizar una protección dorsal del tipo AIRBAG. Desgraciadamente los airbags no son eficaces en la fase de despegue. La KARMA 2 incorpora un concepto nuevo. Un airbag permanente “KRASHBOX”. Este Krashbox funciona mediante un módulo en mousse que garantiza la eficacia del airbag desde el momento que sacamos la silla de la mochila. La KARMA-2, ha sido homologada LTF sin siquiera haber sido inflado el airbag.

Un gran trabajo ha sido necesario introduciendo nuevos materiales, como cintas dyneema, permitiendo reducir el peso, conservando la resistencia. Hemos ido mucho mas lejos de las obligaciones impuestas por la homologación consiguiendo que el espesor en la espalda fuese constante. Lo que claramente refuerza la seguridad ya conseguida sin necesidad del airbag.

La ergonomía en la espalda ha sido particularmente estudiada, de manera que el contacto silla – espalda sea perfecto, todo ello sin dar rigidez a la estructura. El resultado es que la silla es muy confortable y acompaña perfectamente los movimientos del piloto conservando la ligereza del sistema. Incorpora el sistema de anclaje en “V” integrado, con amortiguador de turbulencias regulable en vuelo. Hemos mejorado el sistema haciéndolo muy progresivo. El resultado de todo ello es una silla mas suave y mas precisa en el giro.

Para uso en montaña, es posible quitar la estructura Krashbox. De esta manera el peso disminuirá 400 gramos. La silla entonces, se comportara como una silla Airbag clásica y la protección solo será eficaz después del despegue.

Krisis Rogallo 130

The Krisis Rogallo completes our range of light technical reserve parachutes.

Until now Rogallo parachutes have always been heavy and bulky and the fact that they glide immediately after opening limited, in our opinion, their suitability for cross country pilots (severe risk of mirror effect, risk of being on a collision course with an obstacle if the pilot does not immediately steer the parachute).

The Krisis Rogallo incorporates an innovative system allowing it to behave like a hemispherical parachute during the initial phase after opening, descending vertically in a stable manner with very little forward speed. Thus in the case of a very low deployment the pilot only has to think about landing correctly (parachute landing fall), without having to worry about eventual complications. This safety enhancing feature is only possible due to the large surface area of the Krisis Rogallo.

In the case of a deployment at higher altitude the pilot can, in a second phase, take control of the brakes and benefit from the incomparable glide ratio and sink rate of the parachute which give it an undeniable safety advantage over a hemispherical parachute.

The Krisis Rogallo weighs just under 2kg including the inner container for a surface of 42m².
We have chosen only the best materials and thanks to a light fabric that is both strong enough and highly durable, as well as a new type of suspension line, the weight and volume are very low despite a surface area of 42m².

Opening Behaviour

Thanks to its particular shape and specific packing method the Krisis Rogallo opens up to 50% faster than a standard round parachute. The specific packing technique renders cravats practically impossible.

A new feature is the fully braked configuration of the canopy upon opening which greatly reduces the horizontal displacement. This corresponds to the wish of many pilots to benefit from the advantages of a round parachute which descends vertically combined with those of a Rogallo which can glide and is steerable. When opened near a rock face for example the Krisis Rogallo descends almost vertically. The canopy only starts to glide forward once the pilot takes control of the brakes.

Deployment and Handling

The deployment of the Krisis Rogallo is the same as that of a normal reserve parachute (pull and throw). It slowly moves forward and can be steered with the two brakes even if the paraglider remains attached: this slow horizontal airspeed reduces the loading on the paraglider allowing it to be B-stalled with only one hand. The other hand can thus be used to steer the parachute.
If a quick release system is used to release the paraglider the Krisis Rogallo can be used to its maximum effect: the glide ratio is doubled for a slight increase in the sink rate.

Installation in the Harness

The Krisis Rogallo can be installed in a front-mounted container (like the Kontainer L for example) or in the integrated container of a harness. The parachute is either attached to the main karabiners (front-mounted container) or at shoulder level for containers that are integrated into the harness. Warning: In order for the parachute to be attached at shoulder level the harness must be pre-equipped with specific attachment points for this purpose.

Krisis Rogallo English

FAQ

Do I have to release my paraglider when I open the reserve?
No, the reserve can be steered without any problem. A complicated release system is not absolutely necessary.

After opening how does the Krisis Rogallo behave without pilot input?
Even if the pilot remains passive the Krisis Rogallo functions normally. It moves forward at only a very low speed and will not be destabilized by a paraglider that is in a strong spiral.

Can I steer my Rogallo reserve parachute without releasing my paraglider?
Yes. Thanks to the reduced horizontal speed load on the paraglider is reduced and it can easily be neutralised by a B-stall with one hand allowing the reserve to be steered with the other hand. If there is enough altitude the pilot can even pull in and bundle up the paraglider.

What happens if the parachute and the paraglider become tangled?
In this extreme situation the Krisis Rogallo acts like a standard round parachute. With the advantage that it opens more quickly and due to its large surface area the descent is slower and more stable.

Is the Krisis Rogallo more complicated to pack than a standard round parachute?
The packing procedure is different but not more complicated. As Rogallo reserves are becoming more popular there are more and more qualified packers.

Can I use the Krisis Rogallo with a low all-up weight?
Even with a very light load the in flight characteristics and manoeuvrability remain the same, the forward speed and sink rate are lower than with a heavier pilot. The rapid opening time of the Krisis Rogallo easily competes with that of a small sized standard round parachute.

We have made a deliberate choice to avoid using cheap ultra light materials. The materials used for the canopy and lines are of a very high quality and durability and have proved themselves in their use in skydiving equipment.

The Krisis Rogallo can be used in SIV courses over water.

Description

The Karma II was designed to respond to remarks concerning the Karma, namely that the weight and bulk were too high.

The Karma II meets these demands without sacrificing safety, quite the contrary. The simple solution to reduce the volume in the bag is to switch to an airbag style back protector. Unfortunately, airbags are not effective during takeoff. The Karma II is therefore equipped with a permanent airbag, the Krashbox.
The Krashbox incorporates a foam module which gives the protector its shape and volume ensuring the effectiveness of the airbag right out of the bag. In fact the Karma II has been LTF certified even without pre-inflation!
Great efforts have been made, using new materials such as Dyneema straps, to reduce the weight without affecting strength.
But we also went beyond the requirements of the certification standards by maintaining a constant thickness of the airbag in the back, allowing it to pass the same certification in the case of a flat-back impact, being inflated in this case by the side air intake scoop.

Particular attention was paid to the ergonomic aspect of the design in order to achieve perfect contact with the back whilst avoiding too much rigidity in the structure. The result is a harness with a very high level of comfort that perfectly follows the pilot's movements but which also remains lightweight.
It uses the well known two point “V” clip in architecture used on the Karma and Kamasutra II, which acts as a built-in non-forgettable security system and also incorporates high amplitude roll damping which is adjustable in flight. But we have further improved the system by making it more progressive. The result is greater comfort and precision in turns.

For use as a mountain harness it is possible to remove the foam structure and reduce the weight by a further 400g. The harness will thus behave like a classic airbag harness, the back protector being effective only after take off.

„Unbeschwert Fliegen“

Beschreibung

Das Karma II-Gurtzeug wurde entwickelt um die Verbesserungsvorschläge, die für das Karma I- Gurtzeug gemacht wurden, zu verwirklichen. Diese sind hauptsächlich: weniger Gewicht und weniger Umfang.
Der Karma II-Sitz wird diesen Anforderungen gerecht und erbringt gleichzeitig eine höhere Sicherheit. Die einfache Lösung, um den Umfang des Sitzes zu verringern ist, den Rückenschoner in einen Airbag umzuwandeln. Leider sind die Airbags während der Startphase nicht wirkungsvoll, darum ist der Karma II mit einem permanenten Airbag, der Krashbox ausgestattet.
Diese Krashbox wird durch ein Schaumstoffmodul permanent in Form gehalten, was eine sofortige Wirkung des Airbags garantiert. In der Tat ist der Karma II- Sitz LTF normalisiert worden, ohne auch nur aufgebläht worden zu sein !
Viel Zeit bei der Entwicklung des Sitzes wurde für die Auswahl neuer Materialen verwendet, wie Gurten aus 'Dyneema', duch die ein geringeres Gewicht gewährleistet wird, ohne dabei die Widerstandsfähigkeit zu beeinträchtigen.
Wir sind aber auch über die Auflagen, die zur Normalisierung nötig sind, hinaus gegangen, da wir eine konstante Schutzschicht des Airbags gewährleisten. Dadurch würde unser Gurtzeug den Normalisierungstest sogar bei einem flachen Fall auf den Rücken bestehen, da in diesem Fall der Airbag seitlich aufgebläht wird.

Besonderen Wert haben wir auf die Ergonomik der Rückenpartie gelegt. Ein perfekter Kontakt des Rückens mit dem Gurtzeug ist gewährleistet, ohne dass diese Partie des Sitzes zu steif ist. Resultat: Das Gurtzeug ist sehr komfortabel und passt sich den Bewegungen des Piloten an.
Es übernimmt das Verschlusssystem Verankerung im „V“, zwei Punkte mit integriertem 'Anti-Vergiss-System', das sich schon bei dem Karma I und dem Kamasutra II bewährt hat. Die Rolldämpfung ist während des Fluges regelbar, und dies über eine grosse Spannweite.

Wir haben dieses System noch verbessert, da die Rolldämpfung jetzt Schritt für Schritt eingestellt werden kann. Das Resultat ist ein Gurtzeug, das noch angenehmer und präziser bei der Kurvenführung ist.

Besonderheiten

Der Umfang wurde im Vergleich zur Karma I praktisch halbiert.
Alle Einstellungen sind während des Fluges zugänglich und verstellbar.
Rolldämpfung während des Fluges verstellbar und unabhängig von der Einstellung des Bauchgurtes.
In der Rückentasche befindet sich ein Extra-Fach für das Trinkwassersystem und/oder das Funkgerät.

Für eine Verwendung als Bergsteiger-Gurtzeug kann das Schaumstoffmodul abgenommen werden, wodurch der Gurt nochmal um 400g leichter wird. Das Gurtzug bekommt dadurch einen herkömmlichen Airbag mit einem wirksamen Schutz erst nach der Startphase.
